Want to know if you’re drinking enough water? This calculator will help!

5 Signs You May Be Dehydrated

According to some research, did you know that 75%-80% of Australians and Americans are chronically dehydrated and this could be why you’re struggling to lose weight?

We often hear about the importance of staying hydrated, but many people are walking around mildly to chronically dehydrated without realising it. Let’s explore why proper hydration is crucial and some surprising facts about our daily water needs.

5 Eye-Opening Facts About Hydration:

  1. Thirst isn’t always a reliable indicator By the time you feel thirsty, you may already be mildly dehydrated. Our thirst mechanism becomes less sensitive as we age, making it even more important to be proactive about water intake.
  2. Dehydration can masquerade as hunger. Sometimes when you think you’re hungry, your body might actually be signalling for water. Try having a glass of water before reaching for a snack to see if it satisfies your craving.
  3. Even mild dehydration affects cognitive function Studies have shown that just 1-2% dehydration can impair attention, memory, and performance on mental tasks. Proper hydration is key for staying sharp and focused throughout the day.
  4. Chronic dehydration may contribute to inflammation. While more research is needed, some studies suggest that not drinking enough water could potentially contribute to chronic low-grade inflammation in the body. Staying well-hydrated may help support your body’s natural anti-inflammatory processes.
  5. Water needs vary widely between individuals The often-cited “8 glasses a day” rule doesn’t account for differences in body size, activity level, climate, and other factors. Some people may need significantly more or less water to stay properly hydrated.

Impact on Health: Chronic mild dehydration can have wide-ranging effects on your health, including:

  • Decreased energy levels and increased fatigue
  • Digestive issues like constipation
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Dry skin and premature aging
  • Joint pain and reduced flexibility
  • Weakened immune system

How to Stay Hydrated:

  • Start your day with a glass of water
  • Carry a reusable water bottle and sip throughout the day
  • Eat water-rich foods like fruits and vegetables
  • Set reminders or use apps to track your intake
  • Pay attention to your urine color – pale yellow is ideal

Remember, while these tips can be helpful, it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice on your hydration needs, especially if you have any health conditions or concerns.

By making conscious efforts to stay hydrated, you’re investing in your overall health and well-being. Your body will thank you!

Long story follows. I have what is known as hard to control hypertension. I got it for my 50th birthday 😃 It is a family thing so no surprises there. That year was a doozy in lots of ways, my Mother passed away, it was the global financial crisis and our business was on its knees, and I developed 3 stomach ulcers due to all the stress. Since then I have had to add medications to my regime to keep control, and have taken medication to suppress stomach acid to prevent another ulcer. All these medications played havoc with my innards and I also developed chronic diarrhoea, add a few more pills a day dealing with that. Almost all these medications list weight gain as a potential side effect. I started the decade in size 8 jeans, and finished it in size 18. No matter what I did I simply could not lose any weight. I gave up, and resigned myself to remaining fat and unwell for the rest of my days. I started my journey to health on June 1st this year. First pills to go were the anti diarrhoea pills. From upwards of 3 a day to none. That was closely followed by the Omeprazole for stomach acid. Next to change were my beta blockers. I have weaned myself down from 3 a day of those to one. I have also halved one of my diuretics as well. I have also stopped medicating with wine. My weight loss is sitting on about 14kgs in total. The way I feel today compared with how I felt on May 31st is night and day different. I don't have a weight goal I am aiming to achieve, I will keep going until I look and feel how I want to. Thanks to Bridget’s wonderful recipes and the support of everyone on this journey too, this entire process is effortless and painless.

I've purchased several ebooks which are amazing with wonderful and easy healthy recipes. The customer service is second to none. I am also extremely impressed that I have already received my order so quickly, especially given how close to Christmas i ordered. I still can't believe that I only ordered it on Saturday and within LESS than 2 business days, it is here. So excited to get in the kitchen with it and cook some Christmas yummies!

THANK YOU Bridget. & Mahei !!! 💜💜💜 I can’t find any better fitting words than these two .... THANK YOU !!!! I must confess that, when I started my “New Lifestyle Journey” with Bridget’s & Mahei’s ongoing and selfless support, I was a bit sceptical if this would really work for me ... BUT ...HERE I AM ... a healthy ( well, right now I have to stay in bed, but for some other reasons) and (compared to those days before) slim (minus 30+kg) and active Granny 💕💕💕 Without Bridget’s incredible knowledge and advices, and without her generous giving away of new recipes I would have never come to the point where I am today !!!! And all started with the 28 day meal plan (late summer 2019)!!!! So, participating with all of you guys at this first Boost Camp was simply a “FOR SURE I DO” for me , and although a lot of challenging life circumstances have thrown me off from the waggon a few times, the support and uplifting motivation from all of you put me back on the train again 💜 YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! AND - YES , EVERYONE WHO WILL NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE AT ROUND 2 OF THE BOOST CAMP WILL NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT HE/SHE WILL MISS OUT !!! I HOPE I WILL MEET YOU (and your friends😉) FOR ROUND 2 !!! 💜💜💜
